West Chiltington Silver Band on parade
Sunday 9th November, 2025
Having taken part for the first time in living memory in 2024, the band was proud to lead the Storrington Remembrance Parade once again, with an even stronger showing than last year.

Can summer really be over?!

Head to our GALLERY for some more photos
Hard to believe that our summer season is over! It's been a busy time since we started our season on Horsham Park bandstand on a beautiful early summer Sunday in May. Later that month, we were honoured to be able to play at the Horsham District Council Civic Service in the beautiful church of St. Mary, closely followed by our trip to the musicals for our summer concert in June. (As ever, the wonderful West Chiltington audience participated with enthusiasm!) We were delighted to return for our annual visit to the West Chiltington Village Show in July, and we managed to fit in a couple of fun Wednesday evenings performing at The Bat and Ball Pub in Wisborough Green. We returned to Horsham town centre for our visit to the Carfax bandstand in August (another fabulous late summer's day!) and rounded off our summer with our first visit to the West Grinstead Ploughing Match in late September. (That was great fun and we hope to do it again!) What's next?... Early as it seems, it's time to start planning for the winter and (shhh!) Christmas season. Lookout on our events page for where you can see us - but make sure to put our formal concert in the diary (Sunday 14th December, 3pm, West Chiltington Village Hall).
Nearly time for our 2025 summer concert!
Make sure you get your tickets for another fun evening of great music (with a chance to join in!), not to mention refreshments, quiz and our ever-popular raffle.
Tickets available from: Julie (simplythebest21@btinternet.com), Richard (rabarron@btinternet.com)

A sunny start to the 2025 summer season
We were delighted to be the 'openers' for the Horsham Park Bandstand season on Sunday 11th May. The sun was shining, the bandstand was looking fabulous and the audience, enjoying the glorious weather, really enjoyed our programme. We'll be back in Horsham - on the Carfax bandstand - at the end of August (30th) but there are plenty of opportunities to catch us in action before then - please visit our events page for more information.

West Chiltington Silver Band has some new silverware!
The band headed to Chichester on Saturday 1st March to take part in the Chichester Festival of Music Drama and Speech (Brass Day) - and came away with some silverwear and some nice comments from adjudicator, Estelle Flood.
It was our first outing at any kind of contest for MANY years and although we're definitely not planning to become a more serious contesting band (we just like to enjoy ourselves) our programme, carefully curated by MD, Linda Harvey, had been well-rehearsed and we put on a really good show.

Our set:
Pastime with Good Company (Henry VIII arr. Stephen Roberts)
Mongolian Folk Tune (trad. arranged Judith Hayes)
Mr Jumms (Chris Hazell)
Pristmatic Light (Alan Fernie)
February update...
It's only February and we've already put a very busy 2024, including a whirlwind Christmas season, behind us. We already have a few engagements in our calendar so please check out our events page.

We start our performances with our first trip in some time to Horsham Park bandstand on Sunday 11 May - but before then the band is excited to be making our first trip to the Chichester Festival of Music, Dance and Speech, where we'll be performing a short programme on Saturday 1st March as part of this popular week long festival of the arts. The event is open to the public and takes place at St. Paul's Churchside, Chichester. (We're on around 5.30, but there will be a full day of entertainment from local bands and ensembles!)
A Christmas Cracker!
Our concert was SOLD OUT with days to go and was a roaring success - so remember to book early in future! Yes, it's only the spring but look out for the next date, which will be posted very soon! Keep an eye on the events page...

On parade...stepping out in Storrington on Remembrance Sunday
Members of the band were proud to be able to take part in the Storrington Remembrance parade on Sunday 10th November. It's been a VERY long time since the band did any formal marching, and we think this may be the first ever in Storrington. It was great to see so many people, especially the youth organisations, turning out. Well done everyone!

Autumn update...and onwards to Christmas!
We've had a super busy summer, starting with our great London-themed Spring concert back in May, followed by our Annual trip to the West Chiltington Fete and Flower Show in July (mercifully a lovely sunny day after last year's weather cancellation!). August saw us taking our regular slot on Horsham Carfax bandstand (another gorgeous sunny day), and then a trip to Arundel festival to end our summer season. Autumn has already seen us return to our, now regular, venue of The Horse at Hurst for our Octoberfest event. (Photos for all will be in the gallery soon!)

We're now turning our attention to (shhh!) Christmas! We'll be playing carols round the area and our ever popular Christmas Concert (with singalong, mulled wine, raffle - a great fun evening!) on Sunday 8th December. Please check our our EVENTS page to find out more.

Thank you, Storrington and Pulborough District Rotary!

As part of their '40 for 40' initiative to support local groups to celebrate their 40th Anniversary, Storrington and Pulborough District Rotary donated some money to the band, which we used to add some more music to our library.

MD, Linda Harvey, took a break from conducting our set at the West Chiltington Village Fete to meet President Elect, Mark Foss, and thank him in person.

We've already had a couple of run-throughs of the piece, which is music from the TV series 'Band of Brothers'. It's a great piece and we look forward to playing it at future concerts!

Happy Anniversary to the SPDR - and all the best for the next 40 years!
