We are a friendly, non-contesting band consisting of local enthusiastic musicians of mixed abilities and ages. Although we try and welcome everyone, absolute beginners may find some of the music a little bit challenging.
We rehearse every Wednesday at 8.00pm in our band room in West Chiltington village. We also enjoy playing at local events throughout the year.
We are really blessed with our new MD Linda Harvey. She has been involved in banding for over 50 years as player, conductor and adjudicator, involving in many bands in the south. Linda has experience as a teacher, initially brass peripatetic locally then class teaching music (from kindergarten to GCSE) in schools, retiring as Director of Music at Pennthorpe in Rudgwick. She has BA Hons in Band Studies (majoring in conducting) MA in Psychology for Musicians and LRSM. Her experience is is very wide ranging and encompasses all levels of ability from championship bands to complete beginners /community bands, directing both adult and youth bands. She is also a really nice person!
West Chiltington Silver Band has a long history with its origins dating back to 1908. We have some players in the band who have been members for over 50 years. Find out more about our history and view the archive gallery of old pictures of the band.
